About Us

My name is Debbie and my partner is Patrick.

We packed up from Australia in August 2015 and have been in New Zealand ever since. In Australia, I worked in the insurance industry while Patrick had many years performing technical roles for a number of law enforcement agencies.

As at the start of October 2025, we are on our 113th housesit (mostly in NZ, but also in Australia and England). The sits have ranged from 1 week to 22 weeks (including many repeat assignments) looking after many different dogs, cats and fish, so you can see we have plenty of experience! Our focus is primarily on the pets and the security of your property.

We have looked after many different breeds of dogs and cats over the years, including senior, anxious or nervous ones. We have some experience in administering insulin and taking blood sugar readings if required.

We are a quiet living couple and never leave the pets for long as we recognise that this is a potentially stressful time for them. When we do go out it is usually for a run or walk. We are actually quite boring – we don’t go out in the evening as this can be a bad time to leave pets who may be missing their owners.

Whilst we are by no means expert gardeners we are happy to water, weed and mow as needed.

We both do a bit of work remotely so need reasonably good and reliable internet.
